The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is poised for a stronger and more unified future as its National Chairman, Senator David Mark, received the report of the party’s Constitution Review Committee on Tuesday. The updated framework aims to enhance discipline, transparency, and internal democracy as the party prepares for its next phase of reforms.

The 22-member committee, led by Etigwe Uwa SAN, was inaugurated on January 8 to review the party’s constitution. Its mandate included aligning the document with global best practices, improving dispute resolution, and ensuring greater inclusiveness in decision-making.
Represented by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, Mark described the review process as a rigorous exercise demanding wisdom and foresight. He emphasised that the constitution serves as the soul of the party, reflecting its values, identity, and commitment to Nigerians.

Highlighting the consultative nature of the process, Mark noted that stakeholders across states and zones were actively involved. “This inclusive approach underscores that the ADC belongs to all members, regardless of rank or position,” he said.
Mark further assured that the National Working Committee would carefully examine each recommendation, ensuring alignment with fairness, justice, and the party’s core principles. He stressed that the effectiveness of the party relies not just on rules, but also on the discipline and loyalty of its members.

Recognising technological shifts in Nigeria’s electoral landscape, the party plans to establish an Office of the National Technology Secretary to drive its digital strategy. The committee also recommended affirmative action measures, including 30% representation for women, 20% for youth, and inclusion for persons living with disabilities.

Other reforms include strengthened grassroots structures, the introduction of virtual and hybrid meetings, and a streamlined disciplinary system designed to reconcile disputes effectively. An arbitration framework has been added to manage internal conflicts, ensuring disputes are resolved without causing defections.

Senator Mark concluded by urging members to remain united and committed, setting aside personal interests to build a party that truly reflects Nigerians’ aspirations.
