Nnanna, who works with Beadysworld TV and Beadysworld Blog News, said her 44-year-old sister underwent a myomectomy at a hospital in the Abule Egba area of Lagos after struggling with a large fibroid condition that affected her health and marriage.

She explained that Blessing opted for surgery in December 2025 after initially considering other medical facilities, but eventually chose the private hospital based on recommendations.

According to her, the surgery was carried out on March 28, 2026, but complications began shortly after the procedure, including severe abdominal pain and swelling. She said she repeatedly requested a scan, but claims her concerns were dismissed by the hospital.

Nnanna further alleged that after a scan was eventually conducted at another facility, it revealed the presence of a metallic object in her sister’s abdomen. She claimed this discovery led to a second surgery at the hospital, after which her sister’s condition continued to deteriorate.

She said Blessing was later transferred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) after her condition worsened, where she eventually died despite efforts to stabilise her.

Nnanna also claimed that the family spent over ₦1.2 million on hospital admission, excluding additional costs for drugs, tests, and procedures, adding that total expenses exceeded ₦2 million.

She expressed frustration over what she described as poor response from the hospital and alleged refusal to refer her sister earlier to a higher medical facility.

In response, the Medical Director of OAR Medical Centre, Abule Egba, Dr. Abiodun Ojifinni, confirmed that Blessing underwent fibroid surgery at the facility on March 28, 2026.

He stated that the patient initially improved but later developed complications described as sepsis, a bacterial infection, which they managed before the family requested a transfer to LASUTH.

Ojifinni denied some of the allegations, insisting that the hospital acted appropriately and referred the patient when requested. He added that the facility is awaiting the outcome of an autopsy and coroner’s inquest to determine the exact cause of death.

He urged the public to await official findings before drawing conclusions, noting that the case is still under medical and legal review.
