Meghan Markle is reportedly feeling “vindicated” after a recent private meeting with King Charles appeared to take place without the involvement of Prince William and Princess Catherine.
The Duchess of Sussex travelled to the UK last month with Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for a private family reunion with King Charles at Highgrove House.
According to reports cited by Heat Magazine, the meeting was arranged without William and Catherine’s involvement, a development that an unnamed source claimed has boosted Meghan’s confidence.
The insider reportedly said Meghan and Harry now feel that they do not need the approval of the Prince and Princess of Wales to maintain a relationship with the King and the wider Royal Family.
“It’s becoming increasingly clear they don’t need William and Kate’s approval, which has really boosted Meghan’s confidence,” the source claimed.
The insider added that Meghan was particularly encouraged by what they described as Charles’ efforts to move beyond the family rift and create a path towards a better relationship with Harry, Meghan and their children.
The source said the development was “hugely satisfying” for the couple, who reportedly believe that William and Catherine had previously made reconciliation more difficult.
According to the source, Harry and Meghan believe the Prince and Princess of Wales “went out of their way to make life as difficult as possible for them” and attempted to prevent a reconciliation.
The source claimed that, despite the tensions, Harry and Meghan would still like to improve their relationship with William and Catherine.
However, the couple reportedly feel that even if such a reconciliation does not happen, their recent contact with King Charles has demonstrated that they and their children still have a place within the Royal Family.
