Mofesomo Tayo-Oyetibo is a distinguished Nigerian legal practitioner specializing in commercial dispute resolution. He serves as a Partner at Tayo Oyetibo LP, a leading law firm in Nigeria, where he heads the Arbitration and Commercial Litigation practice.
He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Leeds and a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Bristol. He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
With over a decade of experience, Mofesomo has represented clients in both litigation and arbitration across various sectors, including banking, oil and gas, shipping, and international trade. Notably, he was part of the legal team that advised the Federal Government of Nigeria in proceedings to set aside an arbitral award exceeding $11 billion, the largest ever against Nigeria.
In 2024, he was conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), recognizing his excellence and significant contributions to the legal profession.
Beyond his legal practice, Mofesomo is a prolific writer on arbitration, commercial law, and public interest matters. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and Prime Disputes and serves on the Panel of Neutrals for both the Nigerian Communications Commission and the World Intellectual Property Organization. Additionally, he holds positions on the Board of Governors of Dowen College, Lagos, and the Advisory Board of the Lagos Court of Arbitration’s Young Arbitrators Network.
