MOSHOOD JIMOH HALTS LAGOS, OGUN POLICE COMMANDS FROM TRANSFERRING CASES TO ZONAL HQ

Moshood Jimoh, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, has ordered an immediate suspension of the transfer of cases from the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands to the zonal headquarters.

He issued the directive during a maiden strategic meeting with the Commissioners of Police for both states, where security operations and emerging concerns, including preparations linked to pre-2027 election activities, were reviewed.

Zone 2, which covers Lagos and Ogun states, has its headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.

Jimoh, who recently assumed duty following his promotion to AIG, instructed that commissioners of police in both states must take full responsibility for investigations within their jurisdictions.

He explained that petitions involving alleged lapses would be returned to the respective state commands for proper handling and accountability, rather than being escalated to the zonal office.

The AIG also noted that specialized personnel from the zonal headquarters would be deployed when necessary to support complex investigations requiring technical expertise.

He directed intensified surveillance, patrols, and stop-and-search operations to curb violent crimes across both states.

Jimoh further emphasized strict adherence to professional conduct, warning against indiscipline and human rights violations among officers, while urging compliance with directives from the Inspector-General of Police on improved policing standards.
