The Nigerian Air Force (Nigerian Air Force) says it has carried out precision air strikes targeting terrorist hideouts in the Jilli axis of Borno State as part of ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.

According to a statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation took place on April 11, 2026, and focused on insurgents who were reportedly fleeing and attempting to regroup after earlier military engagements in the area.
He explained that the strikes were conducted as a coordinated air and ground operation with the Nigerian Army, following intelligence reports that confirmed the presence of remaining terrorist cells exploiting difficult terrain in the region.

The Air Force noted that the mission was based on credible intelligence and validated operational planning, adding that it was aimed at sustaining pressure on terrorist elements and preventing further attacks on both military formations and nearby communities.
Officials said the operation reflects improved joint-force coordination and intelligence-driven tactics being used to deny insurgents freedom of movement and weaken their operational capacity across Borno State and the wider North-East theatre.

The Air Force further stated that continued surveillance, precision strikes, and rapid response missions remain central to its counter-terrorism strategy, as security forces intensify efforts to restore stability in affected areas.
However, the statement did not confirm whether the strikes resulted in any civilian casualties.
