The Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening the Employee Compensation Scheme (ECS) for the benefit of Federal Civil Servants.

He gave the assurance during a press briefing in Abuja organised by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, where recent welfare improvements for federal workers were announced.
Faleye commended the Federal Government and the Head of Service for introducing new welfare initiatives aimed at improving the living standards of civil servants, describing them as impactful and timely.

He stated that the NSITF would continue to work closely with the Office of the Head of Service to ensure effective implementation of the Employee Compensation Scheme, especially for workers under the federal treasury-funded system.
According to him, the establishment of an ESC desk within the Office of the Head of Service is part of efforts to provide easier access to information, guidance, and support for civil servants on workplace injury compensation and related benefits.
Faleye explained that the initiative would serve as a central point for continuous awareness and education on how workers can access benefits under the scheme when faced with work-related incidents.

He also noted that under a Memorandum of Understanding between NSITF and the Office of the Head of Service, both institutions are committed to improving service delivery, enhancing public enlightenment, and ensuring civil servants fully understand their rights and obligations under the scheme.
He added that the partnership aims to strengthen protection for workers by ensuring prompt and professional handling of compensation-related matters.
Earlier, the Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Walson-Jack, described the new welfare package as a landmark development under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, stating that it reflects a renewed commitment to civil servants’ wellbeing.

She said the reforms show that the welfare of government workers is now a central focus of national policy, especially as the country approaches Workers’ Day.
Walson-Jack also praised the NSITF for effectively implementing the Employee Compensation Scheme, noting that it provides financial protection for workers injured, disabled, or affected by occupational hazards in the course of duty.
She explained that the scheme complements existing benefits such as the Group Life Assurance policy, ensuring stronger social protection for federal employees and their families.
