A group of Donald Trump supporters in Jigawa State, Northwest, Nigeria, have marked his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States with a celebratory party and also composed a song for him.
In a video sighted by Intel Region, the group led by an Hausa singers, Jamilu Majiya and Adams described the Trump as a symbol of strength and resilience, noting that his principles resonate with many Nigerians.
The song composed in Hausa and English languages, celebrated Trump’s boldness and commitment to his values.
“God chose you, made you, and protected you. Always take care of your supporters,” goes a part of the lyrics.
Two months ago, the artise, Jamilu Majiya went viral after campaigning for Donald Trump before the US presidential election.
The music video included children holding the American flags as well as campaign T-shirts with Trump’s name on it.
Trump’s reelection and inauguration
Trump, who had served as the 45th president of the US from 2017-2021, made a hitoric comback on November 6, 2024, after exceeding the magic number of 270 electoral college votes by six extra points.
Kamala Harris, former vice-president, had 219 electoral college votes in the tightly contested poll.
On Monday, January 20, 2025, Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. JD Vance, the vice-president, was sworn in by Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
In his inaugural address, the US President said, “the golden age of America starts now.”
Trump said he would end the “weaponisation” of the justice department, wowing that “the scales of justice will be rebalanced”.
Hours before the change in US leadership, outgoing President Joe Biden issued pardons for members of the committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot.
He also issued preemptive pardons for James and Frank, his brothers; Valerie, his sister; and their spouses.
Trump said his presidency would be marked by a strong pursuit of excellence.
“It is my hope that our recent presidential election will be remembered as the greatest and most consequential election in the history of our country,” he
said.
Nigerians react
Meanwhile, Nigerians on social media have reacted to the songs composed for Trump by the group in Jigawa State. Many questioned the relevance of the song to the progress and well-being of Nigeria and its people.
