Nollywood actor-turned-politician and lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, has dismissed reports of a rift between him and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, as he declared his intention to contest for a fourth term in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Speaking during a visit to his Surulere Constituency I, Elliot described claims of a disagreement as false and insisted that he remains loyal to Gbajabiamila.
He appealed for understanding, saying that if he had made any mistakes in the past, he was ready to apologise and move forward in the interest of his constituents.
Elliot also urged support for his re-election bid, arguing that continuity in office would enhance legislative experience and improve development outcomes for his constituency.

According to him, longer tenure in the legislature allows lawmakers to gain ranking status, which he said helps attract more projects and opportunities for their constituents.
He maintained that governance is a continuous process and warned that replacing experienced lawmakers with new entrants could slow down development efforts.

The lawmaker highlighted his achievements in areas such as road construction, education, healthcare, and sanitation, adding that more still needs to be done in Surulere.

However, his ambition has faced resistance from a coalition of stakeholders in Surulere, who have reportedly rejected his bid for another term based on performance concerns.
Despite the opposition, Elliot insisted that his push for re-election is aimed at strengthening representation and delivering more dividends of democracy to his constituents.
