Adeleke Prostrates Before Elder Sister After Osun Re-election, Video Sparks Reactions
A video showing Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his elder sister, Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Modupeola Adeleke-Sanni, popularly known as “Aunty Dupe,” has generated reactions online following the governor’s re-election.
In the viral footage, Adeleke was seen prostrating before his elder sister as he expressed his gratitude and respect after securing another term in office.
The governor’s gesture, performed in the traditional Yoruba manner of showing respect to an elder, was followed by prayers from Aunty Dupe, turning the moment into an emotional family celebration.
Aunty Dupe is regarded as one of the influential members of the Adeleke family and has been a notable figure in the governor’s personal and political journey. She is also the sister of businessman Deji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats star Davido.
Adeleke secures second term
Adeleke, who contested the August 15 governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared the winner by INEC State Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, at the State Collation Centre in Osogbo on Sunday.
The declaration followed the collation of results from all 30 local government areas in the state.
The victory gives Adeleke another four years as governor of Osun State.
He polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 444,815 votes.
Adeleke won the election by a margin of 66,252 votes.
The post-election family moment involving the governor and Aunty Dupe has since attracted attention on social media, with many viewers highlighting Adeleke’s public display of respect for his elder sister.
