Rwandan President Paul Kagame has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he was received at Julius Nyerere International Airport by Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, alongside other senior government officials.

President Kagame is scheduled to hold talks with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the State House in Dar es Salaam. The meeting is expected to strengthen the longstanding diplomatic and economic relationship between both neighbouring countries.

Relations between Rwanda and Tanzania have continued to deepen in recent years through the Joint Permanent Commission, with Tanzania remaining one of Rwanda’s key global trading partners. Bilateral trade has reportedly grown steadily year after year.

On the investment front, Tanzania has recorded 42 Rwandan-backed projects between 1990 and March 2026, valued at approximately $325.53 million, creating over 2,200 jobs across sectors such as manufacturing, transport, financial services, tourism, and natural resources.

In return, Tanzanian investors have also established a presence in Rwanda through several companies operating in areas including manufacturing, logistics, consultancy, agriculture, and retail.
The visit is widely seen as part of ongoing efforts to boost regional integration and economic cooperation within East Africa.
