PLATEAU BREAKTHROUGH: ARMY RESCUES KIDNAP VICTIM, RECOVERS N8M RANSOM

Troops under Operation Enduring Peace have successfully rescued a kidnapped woman and recovered ₦8 million paid as ransom in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

This was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh.

According to the statement, the operation took place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, when soldiers from Sector 9 Shendam conducted a coordinated mission that led to both the rescue of the victim and the recovery of the ransom money.

The victim was reportedly abducted from the Bauna area of Shendam LGA on April 19, 2026.

The military explained that the breakthrough came after detailed intelligence work and the interrogation of a suspect who had been arrested and later confessed to the crime. This led troops to Padam Forest in Qua’an Pan LGA, where the victim was located and safely rescued.

Authorities also confirmed that the ₦8 million ransom, previously paid by the victim’s family, was recovered during the operation and later returned to them.

After her rescue, the woman was taken to the General Hospital in Shendam for medical care before being reunited with her family.

The statement added that ongoing operations are still underway to track down other members of the kidnapping gang operating within Qua’an Pan and Shendam areas.

The Joint Task Force also praised residents for their cooperation and encouraged continued sharing of timely intelligence to support security efforts in the region.
