The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed as false a viral social media claim alleging that abducted pupils and teachers from Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State were transported to Kaduna State via helicopter.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the command described the circulating video as misleading, unverified, and completely without factual basis.

According to the statement, the claims lack credibility and do not meet the standard of authenticity required for information concerning sensitive security issues. It further clarified that the video being shared online is false and should be disregarded by the public.
The command emphasized that coordinated rescue operations are still actively ongoing. It noted that security and intelligence agencies are working together to ensure the safe recovery of all abducted victims, their reunion with families, and the eventual arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Authorities also expressed concern over the spread of misinformation, warning that such false narratives are capable of causing panic, undermining public trust, and interfering with ongoing security efforts. The police stressed that some individuals are deliberately circulating disinformation to weaken confidence in the rescue operations and the efforts of security personnel.
The statement warned that anyone found promoting or sharing false or malicious content related to the incident would be identified and dealt with according to the law.
Residents were urged to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies, while relying only on verified information from official sources.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring the public that all necessary resources are being deployed to ensure the safe return of the abducted children and teachers.
