Zamfara Police Recover Stolen Newborn, Arrest Suspect in Human Trafficking Case
The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed a breakthrough in a case involving alleged human trafficking, baby factory activities, and the theft of a 10-day-old baby from the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda.
The incident was first reported at the Kaura Namoda Police Division three days before the recovery of the infant, prompting an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the child.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, hospital staff who were on duty at the time of the incident were invited for questioning to assist ongoing investigations.

Following sustained efforts by operatives, the stolen baby was recovered on May 15, 2026, at about 8:35 a.m. in a nearby hamlet, the location of which was not disclosed by authorities.
The police confirmed that the infant was found unharmed and has since been reunited with the biological parents.
One suspect, a 27-year-old woman whose identity was withheld, is currently in police custody and undergoing further investigation in connection with the case.
The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, CP Ahmad Bello, commended members of the public for providing timely information that aided the successful rescue operation.
He also assured residents of the command’s continued commitment to tackling all forms of criminal activity across the state and pledged that further updates would be provided as investigations continue.
