Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for increased access to education, healthcare, skills development, decent livelihoods and economic opportunities as part of efforts to eradicate poverty, particularly among vulnerable families. In her message marking this year’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, themed “Dignity, Opportunity, and Shared Prosperity,” she said compassion, effective interventions and sustained collaboration could help create pathways out of poverty and promote shared prosperity.

The First Lady stressed the need for collective responsibility in building a society where everyone can live with dignity and hope, access meaningful opportunities, and realise their full potential. She urged continued efforts to expand essential services and economic opportunities, especially for vulnerable households, to ensure that more people can improve their living conditions and participate in shared prosperity.
