A serving senior officer of the Nigeria Police Force has paid glowing tribute to Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu and a number of distinguished retired police commanders, acknowledging their mentorship and the invaluable role they played in shaping his understanding of modern operational policing.
In a reflective post shared on social media, the officer recalled his formative years as Operations Officer I in the Department of Operations, Lagos State Command, describing the period as one of the most defining stages of his policing career.
According to him, the current Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, who at the time served as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), together with the then Commissioner of Police, retired CP Fatai Ajani Owoseni, exposed him to the principles of operational excellence, intelligence-led policing and modern law enforcement.
The officer also paid tribute to retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Titilayo Kayode, who served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, and retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Edgar Imohimi, then Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), for their professional guidance and leadership.
Reflecting on the experience, he noted that the opportunity to serve under accomplished operational commanders profoundly influenced his professional development, reinforcing his belief that practical experience remains one of life’s greatest teachers.
Expressing gratitude, he concluded his message by thanking God for the privilege of learning from some of the Nigeria Police Force’s finest operational minds, writing: “Experience is key in life. Adupe lowo Eledua. Ire oo.”
