Thousands of supporters of Adebayo Adelabu gathered at the Ibadan airport to استقبال him following his resignation from the federal cabinet.
The former Minister of Power recently stepped down from his role under Bola Ahmed Tinubu to focus on his governorship ambition in Oyo State.
Adelabu, in a resignation letter dated April 22, 2026, said his exit would take effect from April 30 to allow for a smooth transition. He expressed gratitude to the president for the opportunity to serve, describing his time in office as an honour and a chance to contribute to reforms in the power sector.

At the airport in Ibadan, supporters turned out in large numbers, creating a festive atmosphere ahead of his arrival. Many were dressed in branded clothing bearing his image, while others carried posters and banners in his support.
Eyewitnesses said the crowd filled the area with excitement, as some supporters danced to the rhythm of traditional talking drums, while others blew horns in celebration.
The show of support is seen as an early signal of momentum for Adelabu’s political ambition, as he prepares to enter the race for the Oyo State governorship.
