United States immigration authorities have arrested a 53-year-old Nigerian national, Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, over allegations of child molestation, sexual battery, and soliciting lewd conduct.
The arrest was carried out on April 21 by officers of the Los Angeles Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), a branch of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In a statement released on Friday, ICE said Olusanjo had previously been arrested for similar offences, noting that his criminal record raised serious concerns.
“Los Angeles ERO arrested Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, 53, of Nigeria, on April 21. Olusanjo has previous arrests for child molestation, sexual battery and soliciting lewd conduct. He is in ICE custody pending removal,” the agency said.
Authorities confirmed that he remains in detention as deportation proceedings continue.
