U.S. SAYS IRAN PORT BLOCKADE FULLY ENFORCED, TRADE HALTED

The United States military has announced the enforcement of a naval blockade targeting Iran, effectively stopping maritime trade to and from the country.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation was carried out swiftly, bringing seaborne commercial activity involving Iran to a halt within 36 hours of implementation. The blockade is being enforced across Iranian coastal waters and ports, with naval assets, including guided-missile destroyers, deployed to maintain control.

CENTCOM stated that the operation applies to vessels of all nations attempting to enter or exit Iranian ports, describing the enforcement as impartial and comprehensive.

The move follows a decision by Donald Trump, who announced the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz after diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran failed to produce an agreement.

The objective of the blockade is to limit Iran’s ability to generate revenue from maritime activities, particularly by restricting its capacity to benefit from oil exports and transit fees through the strategic waterway.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical shipping routes for global energy supplies, and any disruption in the area is likely to have significant economic and geopolitical implications.
