Governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, has promised to prioritise security and human capital development if elected governor in 2027.
Speaking at the formal declaration of his ambition, Bolarinwa said his agenda would focus on tackling insecurity while strengthening key sectors such as education, healthcare, and skills acquisition to drive long-term development in the state.
The event, which drew party members, supporters, and stakeholders from across Kwara and beyond, comes amid growing public concern over pockets of insecurity in some communities.

Bolarinwa assured residents that safeguarding lives and property would be a central pillar of his administration, stressing that practical measures would be introduced to improve safety across all parts of the state.
He also emphasised human capital development, describing it as essential for building a stronger and more productive society. According to him, targeted programmes for youths and women would form a key part of his policy direction.
“My decision to join this race is rooted in service and a deep commitment to the progress of Kwara State,” he said. “I stand before you not just as a politician, but as a son of the soil who understands the struggles, hopes, and aspirations of our people.”
Reflecting on his political journey, Bolarinwa noted his experience as a councillor, local government chairman, member of the House of Representatives, and former state party chairman, saying these roles have prepared him for higher responsibility.
“Our state is at a defining moment where we must deepen development, expand opportunities, and ensure governance is fair, inclusive, and just,” he added.

He further pledged to build an inclusive economy driven by innovation, agriculture, and enterprise development, while promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
Calling for broad support, Bolarinwa said his ambition is a collective project. “This is not a journey I can walk alone. It is a shared mission to build a better, stronger, and more inclusive Kwara State,” he said.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing optimism that the same vision would be reflected at the state level.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the BOB 2027 campaign, Mr. Abolaji Afolabi, described Bolarinwa’s aspiration as a response to the growing demand for purposeful leadership in the state.
According to him, consultations across Kwara indicate a strong desire among residents for a government that delivers opportunity, fairness, and development.
The declaration event was attended by several political leaders, elders, and stakeholders from across the state, who expressed varying levels of support for the aspirant’s ambition.
