General Gbasky Movement Endorses Tinubu, Adeleke Ahead of Elections
A socio-political group in Osun State, the General Gbasky Movement, has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the upcoming presidential and governorship elections.
The group’s Convener, Aponbiede Ayodeji, announced the decision at a press conference yesterday, saying it followed consultations with members, political stakeholders, youth groups, women leaders, community representatives and other associates across the state.
Ayodeji said the movement had unanimously chosen Tinubu as its preferred presidential candidate, citing his focus on national development, economic reforms, infrastructure and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The group also endorsed Governor Adeleke for another term in office. According to Ayodeji, the decision was influenced by the governor’s efforts in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare and other areas of people-focused governance.
“Our movement has always placed the interests of the people above personal or political considerations. We remain committed to supporting leaders who can advance the welfare and prosperity of our nation and Osun State,” Ayodeji said.
He explained that the endorsements were based on the movement’s assessment of the candidates’ leadership performance, vision and commitment to the people, rather than partisan interests.
Ayodeji urged members and supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the electoral process. He also called on political parties and their supporters to avoid violence, intimidation and hate speech.
“Elections should be a celebration of democracy, not a source of conflict,” he emphasised.
The convener said the General Gbasky Movement would continue its grassroots mobilisation, political education, youth empowerment and community development activities while working with other stakeholders to promote peaceful, free, fair and credible elections in Osun State.
