UYO/PORT HARCOURT, November 7, 2026 — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign has recorded an impressive display of political mobilisation in Nigeria’s South-South geopolitical zone, with large crowds of supporters gathering at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, while another major reception is being prepared in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to the Headlinenews.News correspondent covering the Akwa Ibom event, enthusiastic supporters turned out in substantial numbers, filling the stadium during Friday’s presidential engagement.
Video footage recorded by the correspondent captured the gathering, reflecting the scale of participation and the enthusiasm surrounding the President’s visit.
The event brought together political stakeholders, party leaders, grassroots organisations and supporters participating in Tinubu’s South-South engagement.

In Akwa Ibom, President Tinubu was received by Governor Umo Eno and other prominent political figures.
His official programme included the inauguration of infrastructure projects undertaken by the state administration, including facilities at Victor Attah International Airport, road projects and other public investments.
The visit provided an opportunity for the state government to showcase development projects while political supporters demonstrated their commitment to the President’s re-election campaign.
PORT HARCOURT PREPARES FOR ANOTHER MAJOR RALLY
Attention has shifted to Rivers State, where supporters are gathering at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt ahead of Saturday’s presidential rally.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, projected that more than 70,000 supporters would attend the event.
The stadium has an estimated seating capacity of 40,000, with organisers reportedly making additional arrangements to accommodate the anticipated gathering.
Speaking after inspecting the venue, Wike expressed satisfaction with preparations and the enthusiasm surrounding the President’s visit.
“We are highly elated to receive Mr President. Rivers people are very enthusiastic to receive him tomorrow,” he declared on Friday.

Ahead of the rally, the Rivers State Rainbow Coalition organised a roadshow involving more than 80 campaign buses representing political structures across the state’s 23 local government areas.
The mobilisation brought together supporters associated with the APC and PDP, illustrating the cross-party cooperation emerging around Tinubu’s presidential campaign in Rivers State.
IMPRESSIVE TURNOUT: AN ENCOURAGING POLITICAL INDICATOR
The impressive turnout in Akwa Ibom and the mobilisation witnessed in Rivers State are encouraging indicators of President Tinubu’s visible political support in the South-South.
Although rally attendance cannot be equated with actual votes, the scale of participation points to the effectiveness of expanding campaign structures and suggests that the President continues to command an organised and enthusiastic support base despite prevailing economic challenges.

The gatherings are particularly noteworthy against the background of the economic adjustments associated with the administration’s reform programme.
Petrol-subsidy removal, foreign-exchange reforms and other fiscal measures have imposed significant pressures on households and businesses.
The administration maintains that these reforms are necessary to address longstanding structural weaknesses, improve fiscal sustainability and establish a stronger foundation for economic development.
Supporters point to infrastructure investment, education financing, skills development, social interventions and improved revenue mobilisation as evidence of efforts to address the difficulties associated with the reforms.

The political significance of the South-South rallies therefore extends beyond attendance figures.
They provide an opportunity to assess the organisational strength of the campaign, the participation of state-level political leaders and the willingness of supporters to engage publicly with the President’s re-election programme.
TINUBU’S EXPANDING POLITICAL MACHINERY
The South-South mobilisation also reflects the political strategy examined by Princess Gloria Adebajo-Fraser, MFR, President of the National Patriots and Member of the APC-PCC Strategic Communications Team 2027.
In her article published in THISDAY on Friday, November 6, titled Tinubu’s 2027 Electoral Strategy: How APC’s Expanding Political Machinery Is Reshaping the Presidential Contest, Adebajo-Fraser examined governors’ networks, grassroots organisation, political realignments and the cumulative importance of nationwide electoral support.

She wrote:
“The central electoral question is cumulative national strength, not simply the number of states a candidate carries.”
The involvement of state governors, campaign coordinators, political stakeholders and constituency-level organisations in the South-South provides a practical illustration of the mobilisation structures discussed in that analysis.
The National Patriots have subsequently updated their political assessment to a 26-state-plus-FCT scenario, although this remains an organisational and electoral projection rather than a scientific opinion poll.
The ongoing campaign engagements offer an opportunity to examine how these political arrangements operate at state and community levels.

NATIONAL PATRIOTS POSITION
The National Patriots recognise the impressive mobilisation in Akwa Ibom and Rivers as encouraging evidence of organised political support for President Tinubu.
These gatherings reflect the expanding political machinery examined in our President’s THISDAY analysis of November 6, particularly the importance of governors’ networks, grassroots participation and cumulative national electoral strength.
While rallies alone cannot determine electoral outcomes, their scale and enthusiasm provide useful indicators of campaign organisation and public engagement.
We also recognise that Nigerians continue to face economic hardship. The administration’s reforms, infrastructure programmes and social interventions must ultimately be assessed by their measurable impact on living standards, employment opportunities and public services.
