A total of 542 senior Non-Commissioned Officers from the Nigerian Armed Forces have officially retired after completing 35 years of dedicated service to the nation. The retirement ceremony took place on Thursday at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) in Oshodi, Lagos.
The retirees, who were drawn from across the military branches, included 362 personnel from the Nigerian Army, 134 from the Nigerian Navy, and 46 from the Nigerian Air Force. The event marked both an emotional and hopeful transition for the officers, who were also presented with discharge certificates after undergoing intensive vocational training in various fields to support their reintegration into civilian life.
Major General Aligbe Obhiozele, representing the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, commended the retirees for their unwavering commitment, resilience, and patriotism. He also acknowledged their sacrifices and contributions to national peace and security, noting that their service has left a lasting legacy in the Armed Forces.
The ceremony highlighted not only the end of an era for these officers but also the beginning of a new chapter, as many expressed gratitude for the support and preparation provided by the resettlement centre to ease their post-service journey.
