#Report Links Former Nigerian NSA to $1M Horse Farm in the U.S.

A new investigation by the Platform to Protect Whistleblowers in Africa has revealed that a former Nigerian National Security Adviser (NSA) purchased a 127-acre horse farm in South Carolina in 2002 under questionable circumstances.

The report, published on February 24, 2025, highlights that at the time of the purchase, the ex-NSA was serving as the head of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, responsible for printing Nigeria’s currency.

Conducted in collaboration with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, The Post and Courier in South Carolina, and The Houston Chronicle in Texas, the investigation found that the ex-NSA’s wife applied for an American investor visa, using the horse farm purchase as proof of investment.

According to the report, she claimed that the $1 million used to acquire the farm came from a lobbying contract her husband allegedly secured while leading Nigeria’s Mint. The contract was reportedly to influence Ghanaian officials on behalf of a Texas oil company seeking offshore oil access.

However, U.S. authorities rejected the visa application, citing concerns over the legitimacy of the funds. Despite raising red flags, no further action was taken regarding the farm’s ownership.

The report further disclosed that the property was later transferred to the ex-NSA’s wife and is now operated as an Airbnb rental and wedding venue. The equestrian center features 55 stalls, 16 paddocks, a quarter-mile track, a stadium ring with jumps, four barns, and several horses.

While the U.S. government questioned the origins of the funds, no legal actions have been reported against the ex-NSA or the property.
