Former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maharazu Tsiga, has been released after spending 22 days in captivity.
Tsiga was abducted on February 6, 2025, at his residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, by a group of armed bandits. During the attack, two individuals sustained injuries, while one of the gunmen was mistakenly shot by a fellow gang member.
According to reports, the notorious bandit leader Babaro and his gang initially demanded a ₦250 million ransom for Tsiga’s release. However, it remains unclear whether any payment was made.
Following his release on Friday, February 28, Tsiga was immediately taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical evaluation and security reasons.
Government authorities and security agencies, including the Katsina State Police Command, have yet to issue an official statement regarding his release.
