A lighthearted moment between two of Nigeria’s wealthiest men, Adedeji Adeleke and Aliko Dangote, has gone viral, showcasing their long-standing friendship and playful rivalry.
In the trending video, Davido’s father, Adedeji Adeleke, jokingly tells Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, that he is older than him, referring to him as his “younger brother” (“Aburo mi”). Dangote, not one to back down, claps back with humor, correcting that Adeleke is only one month older.
Dr. Adeleke and Dangote share deep family ties beyond business. Dangote, who is also Davido’s godfather, famously drove the singer home from the hospital after his birth in Atlanta.
The playful exchange took place on March 6, 2025, during Adeleke’s 68th birthday celebration. While chatting with media mogul Dele Momodu, Adeleke emphasized his seniority over Dangote, which led to laughter among those present. Dangote, however, quickly reminded everyone that he was born just a month later, on April 10, 1957.
