Kaduna, Nigeria – May 10, 2025

In a significant gathering aimed at tackling pressing issues in Northern Nigeria, the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and traditional leaders convened today at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna. The meeting, chaired by NSGF Chairman and Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, and hosted by Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on the region’s security and socioeconomic challenges.

Prominent traditional rulers in attendance included the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar; Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Bamalli; Etsu Nupe; Emir of Zamfara; and the Emirs of Bauchi, Katsina, Ilorin, and Keffi, among others.

The agenda focused on addressing persistent insecurity, poverty, and the high rate of out-of-school children in the region. Governor Yahaya emphasized the need for a unified approach, stating, “Security and development are intricately connected, and we must approach them collectively. Without security, there will be no development.”

Governor Sani highlighted the importance of collaboration between political and traditional institutions to restore stability and prosperity in Northern Nigeria.

This meeting underscores the commitment of Northern leaders to work together in finding sustainable solutions to the region’s challenges.
