In a shocking incident on Sunday evening, a Benue Links commercial bus was hijacked by armed men along the Otukpo-Otukpa road in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.
The attack occurred near the Eke community around 6:30 p.m. The assailants ambushed the vehicle, with registration number 14B-143BN, robbing all passengers before forcefully leading them into a nearby forest.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that the gunmen struck swiftly, leaving no chance for resistance. Comrade Austin Agada, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, who happened to be driving past the scene shortly after the incident, raised an alarm and contacted security operatives.
His timely intervention prompted an immediate response from military and police units, who were quickly deployed to the area to begin search-and-rescue efforts. Security agencies have launched a coordinated operation to locate and rescue the kidnapped victims, though the exact number of abducted passengers remains unclear as of press time.
