JUST IN: Federal Government Suspends Recruitment into Civil Defence, Fire Service, Immigration; Portal to Reopen July 21

The Federal Government has temporarily suspended the ongoing recruitment into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Fire Service, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

This was announced in a public notice issued by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), signed by the Board Secretary, Maj. Gen. AM Jibril (rtd), and dated July 16, 2025.

According to the statement, the recruitment portal—https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng—has been temporarily taken offline to enhance the efficiency of the system and will be reopened on Monday, July 21, 2025.

“The CDCFIB has temporarily suspended the recruitment application portal as part of efforts to optimize system performance,” the notice read. “This measure is to ensure the portal can effectively handle the large volume of applications and support a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process.”

The Board acknowledged the high level of interest among young Nigerians in joining the nation’s paramilitary agencies and emphasized its commitment to maintaining a credible and efficient recruitment process.

“We recognize and appreciate the enthusiasm of young Nigerians eager to serve the country in these critical roles,” the statement added. “We are fully committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment exercise.”

Applicants are advised to await further instructions and prepare to resume their applications once the portal is reactivated on July 21.
