The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that discussions around its 2027 presidential candidate are premature, emphasizing that its current focus is on strengthening the party’s foundation.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s interim National Publicity Secretary, made this known on Saturday in Abuja. He clarified that the ADC has not endorsed or held discussions regarding any potential presidential aspirants.
“We don’t have any favourite aspirants or candidates. We are not having any conversation at the moment,” Abdullahi stated. “Nobody has ever had any conversation about who will be the party’s flag bearer. We believe it is too early in the day. Our focus now is to build a political party that is strong enough to deliver on the mission we have set for ourselves.”
Amid ongoing political speculation, three prominent figures are believed to be interested in the ADC’s presidential ticket: former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi. However, none of them have publicly declared their intentions.
