Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has imposed a one-month suspension without pay on 87 senior government officials who failed to attend a key official event.
The suspended personnel include:
25 Commissioners
14 Senior Special Assistants
24 Special Assistants
22 Permanent Secretaries
The directive was announced late Monday through a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor. The suspension takes immediate effect, and all affected officials are barred from performing any official duties or signing documents during the period.
“The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed that the underlisted government functionaries proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary for failure to attend an important government function,” Uzor stated.
All affected commissioners have been instructed to hand over to their respective permanent secretaries. Likewise, suspended permanent secretaries must withdraw from all administrative duties pending the end of their suspension.
Uzor emphasized that the governor is determined to enforce discipline and responsibility within the state’s governance structure.
“The Governor remains firm in his resolve to ensure that public officials uphold the highest standards of responsibility, discipline, and dedication to duty in the service of the people of Ebonyi State,” he added.
