Apapa Customs Generates N3.7tn, Seizes 75 Contrabands in 15 Months

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, says it generated N3.7 trillion in revenue and seized 75 contraband items in the last 15 months.

A performance document highlighting the achievements of the Customs Area Controller, Babatunde Olomu, revealed that the seizures included assorted rifles, ammunition, expired pharmaceuticals, fake drugs, codeine, tramadol, used clothing, margarine, wild animal skins, and stolen vehicles.

The command also intercepted restricted security gadgets such as drones and telecom devices. Specifically, it confiscated 60 warrior drones, 53 helicopter drones worth about N2.1 billion, and 10 professional FM transceivers, alongside other prohibited items.

On revenue, the document showed that the command collected between N175.1 billion in May 2024 and N215 billion in August 2025, with monthly figures ranging from N178.2bn to N269.3bn.

Commending Olomu, Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, noted that Apapa Command handles the highest trade volume for NCS and bears the greatest responsibility for revenue collection and national security.

“I urge them to sustain this performance. Port users must embrace only legitimate trade, as the NCS under my leadership remains fully committed to its responsibilities,” Adeniyi said.
