BREAKING: Senator Natasha’s Office Reopened, Signaling End to Suspension.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, is set to resume her duties as security operatives have reopened her National Assembly office in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing. The office was sealed earlier this year following her six-month suspension by the Senate for alleged breaches of its rules.

The suspension, which sparked widespread criticism from groups like the Nigeria Labour Congress, Afenifere, and civil society organizations, was declared unconstitutional by the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 4. Despite the ruling, the Senate initially barred her return, citing the need for a new resolution or clearer court directive.

The reopening of her office now clears the path for Akpoti-Uduaghan, a lawyer and rights advocate, to resume her legislative role. Her legal team maintains her innocence and insists she should fully return pending further court proceedings.

This development is likely to spark renewed discussions on legislative accountability, lawmakers’ rights, and the scope of the Senate’s disciplinary authority.
