Fubara Dismisses Commissioners, Other Officials

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sacked all commissioners and public officers impacted by a recent Supreme Court ruling, effective immediately. The governor emphasized Nigeria’s Independence, urging citizens to unite with President Bola Tinubu to foster a peaceful, secure, and prosperous nation.

Fubara reaffirmed his dedication to serving Rivers State with renewed energy, thanking residents for their support and extending Happy Independence wishes to Nigerians.

Previously, during the emergency rule declared by President Tinubu, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.) suspended Fubara’s appointees, dissolved boards, and removed heads of parastatals. Following Ibas’ departure on September 18, the status of these appointees was unclear. The Rivers State House of Assembly, in its first session post-emergency, urged Fubara to submit a new list of commissioner-nominees for screening and present the 2025 budget.
