Eight Muslim-majority countries—Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt—have endorsed Hamas’s decision to relinquish control of Gaza, viewing it as a critical step toward ending the ongoing conflict and stabilizing the region. In a joint statement issued on Sunday, the foreign ministers of these nations supported US President Donald Trump’s proposal to halt the Gaza war, praising his efforts to foster peace.
The ministers welcomed Hamas’s readiness to transfer Gaza’s administration to a transitional Palestinian Administrative Committee of independent technocrats. They also backed the immediate release of all hostages, both living and deceased, and called for urgent negotiations to implement the proposal. The plan includes ensuring unrestricted humanitarian aid, preventing Palestinian displacement, and facilitating the Palestinian Authority’s return to Gaza to unify it with the West Bank.
The statement emphasized a commitment to a comprehensive ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal, Gaza’s reconstruction, and a two-state solution to guarantee security for all parties. The ministers expressed hope that these developments could lead to a sustainable peace, addressing Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis and paving the way for lasting stability.
