EL-RUFAI TO REMAIN IN ICPC CUSTODY TILL JUNE

Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the bail hearing of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to the first week of June 2026.

El-Rufai is facing an amended nine-count charge filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), bordering on alleged fraud and abuse of office. He had appeared before the court last week for the hearing of his bail application.

Although the court had initially fixed April 21 for ruling on the application, the judge postponed the decision, extending proceedings to June.

In a related development, El-Rufai was recently granted bail in a separate case by the Federal High Court Kaduna. Justice Rilwanu Aikawa admitted him to bail in the sum of ₦200 million, with conditions that include remaining in ICPC custody until they are met, attending all court sittings, and refraining from making public comments on the case.

Reacting to the latest adjournment, his counsel, Ukpon Akpan, criticised the delay, describing it as politically motivated.

The case continues to draw attention as legal proceedings unfold across multiple courts.
