Two Teenagers Killed in Lagos Barbershop Robbery

A violent armed robbery at a barbershop in Cele Nica, Ojo Local Government Area, Lagos State, left two teenagers, Chijindu and Akorede, dead on Saturday night, October 4, 2025. Around 9 p.m., a three-man gang stormed Abengo Close, initially posing as customers before attacking the shop, robbing patrons of cash and phones, and opening fire.

According to resident Duuni Olafeso, the robbers ordered everyone to lie down. When Chijindu said he had only N1,000 for his haircut, an enraged robber instructed his accomplices to “waste them.” Gunshots struck Chijindu, Akorede, and the barber. Akorede died instantly, while Chijindu and the barber were rushed to the hospital. Chijindu succumbed to his injuries around midnight, but the barber survived by feigning death.

Ugochukwu, Chijindu’s boss and a solar panel installer, described the apprentice as hardworking and responsible, noting they had returned from a work trip that day. Akorede, who lived outside the community, was also mourned, with police recovering his body. Chijindu was buried on Monday, October 6, 2025. The barbershop on Owolabi Street remains locked, with the community in a somber mood.
