The Niger State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who were attempting to flee after allegedly robbing a student in Bida Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Aliyu Salihu (25) and Jibrin Ndako (22), both residents of Barkin-Saleh, Minna, were apprehended by operatives attached to the Maje Division. They were caught in the Tungan-Shanu area of Maje while riding a white, unregistered Lucky motorcycle believed to have been stolen during the robbery.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the suspects were intercepted at about 6:45 p.m. on October 22, 2025. Investigations revealed that earlier that day, around 2:30 a.m., the duo, armed with cutlasses, had attacked a student in his lodge in Bida, carting away a motorcycle, four mobile phones, and ₦40,000.

Abiodun said the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation, admitting that they were on their way to Kogi State with the stolen items before their arrest.
Items recovered from them include the motorcycle, four handsets, two ATM cards, and ₦7,000, which was the remaining balance of the stolen cash.
The police spokesperson added that both suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
