The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State ahead of the November 8 governorship election.
This was made known in a statement released on Monday in Awka by the state’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi.
According to Eta-Messi, the PVC collection exercise, which was originally scheduled to conclude on October 29, will now run until November 2, following a decision reached by the commission during its meeting on October 27.

“This decision was taken after the commission received numerous appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time to ensure eligible voters are able to collect their cards.”
Eta-Messi urged all registered voters who have yet to obtain their PVCs to take advantage of the extension and visit any of the 326 designated registration area centres across the state.
She added that the distribution exercise is specifically for individuals who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, noting that PVC collection must be done in person, as proxy collection is strictly prohibited.

The Anambra governorship election will be held on November 8, 2025, with 16 candidates cleared to participate. Prominent contenders include:
Ukachukwu Nicholas (All Progressives Congress, APC)
Ezenwafor Jude (Peoples Democratic Party, PDP)
Charles Soludo (All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA)
Moghalu Nnadubem (Labour Party)
Ifemeludike Chioma (African Action Congress, AAC)
Nwosu Chuma (African Democratic Congress, ADC)
INEC has assured voters of its readiness to conduct a credible and inclusive election.
