Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have re-arrested a 25-year-old ex-convict, Segun Kolawole, just five days after his release from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

Kolawole was apprehended around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Oshodi Market after officers observed his suspicious movements. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, he was found with ₦80,000 and an Infinix Note 40 Pro smartphone — items traced to a burglary he allegedly committed in Opebi, Lagos. The police said he had earlier stolen ₦200,000 and the phone from a sleeping trader, and had already spent part of the stolen cash on clothes and shoes, which were recovered during his arrest.
In a separate operation, RRS operatives also arrested two suspects — 27-year-old Sodiq Isa and 21-year-old Adekanmbi Ganiu — for attempting to steal mobile phones from commuters in different parts of Lagos on Friday, October 24.

Police reports indicate that both suspects are notorious for preying on pedestrians and passengers during rush hours, using quick snatching tactics in crowded areas and traffic jams. The prompt intervention of officers prevented further thefts, and all recovered items have been returned to their owners.
“All three suspects are in custody and undergoing further investigation at the RRS headquarters,” SP Adebisi stated. “Once investigations are complete, they will be charged to court.”

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, praised the RRS operatives for their vigilance and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and sustained operations against criminal activities across the state.
