The newly appointed Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has approved a major reorganization within the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), involving the redeployment of several senior officers across key commands and departments.
According to a statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the shakeup is aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, improving decision-making, and aligning the force with the new leadership’s strategic vision.

The changes affect several high-ranking officers and critical positions. Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Abdullahi has been appointed Chief of Policy and Plans, while AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun becomes Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna. AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye is now Group Managing Director, Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL), and AVM Precious Amadi takes over as Chief of Operations. AVM Nnamdi Ananaba assumes the role of Chief of Air Intelligence, and AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe becomes Superintendent of Standards and Evaluation.

In other appointments, AVM Ahmed Dari has been named Chief of Training, while AVM Mohammed Ibrahim will head the Transformation and Innovation Branch, reflecting the Air Force’s renewed focus on technology and modernization.
The logistics and engineering departments also saw changes, with AVM Olufemi Ogunsina appointed Chief of Aircraft Engineering and AVM Michael Onyebashi named Air Officer Commanding, Mobility Command. AVM David Pwajok is now Chief of Communication and Information Systems, and AVM John Ukeh becomes Air Provost Marshal.

Further appointments include AVM Simon Peter as Managing Director, NAFIL Housing and Construction Company; AVM Chidiebere Obiabaka as Air Secretary; AVM Anthony Martins as Chief of Administration; AVM Abubakar Sule as Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command; and AVM Abdulrasheed Kotun as Managing Director, NAF Farms. AVM Edward Gabkwet takes over as Chief of Civil-Military Relations, while AVM Osichinaka Ubadike becomes Deputy Commandant of AFIT.
Several other senior officers, including AVMs Ahmed Bakari, Albert Bot, Idi Sani, Muhammed Suleiman, Jibrin Usman, and Japheht Ekwuribe, have been redeployed to defence and inter-service institutions as part of efforts to enhance joint military coordination.

The NAF described the reshuffle as a strategic step toward balanced leadership, institutional efficiency, and the consolidation of ongoing reforms. The move follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent appointment of Air Marshal Aneke as Chief of Air Staff — a decision that came shortly after reports of an attempted military coup, sparking widespread public discussion.
