BREAKING: Terrorists Attack Kwara Community In Night Raid, Abduct Several Residents

Armed bandits have attacked Igbonla community in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting several residents during a midnight raid on Sunday.

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen stormed the village around midnight, firing shots to scare residents before taking away an undisclosed number of victims. The assault triggered panic, forcing many locals to flee to nearby communities.

Security forces, including police and local vigilantes, have been deployed to track the attackers and rescue those abducted. However, as of press time, neither the state government nor the police command has issued an official statement.

The incident adds to mounting insecurity in Kwara South, where kidnappings and armed attacks have been on the rise.

Meanwhile, earlier reported that police officers deployed to combat banditry in the Osi–Eruku axis of Ekiti Local Government Area were accused of extorting motorists. In a video obtained by the outlet, officers allegedly used an Armoured Personnel Carrier meant for patrols to stop vehicles and demand money.

A motorist in the footage lamented, “They were sent to fight kidnappers, but instead they’re here collecting money from us while bandits keep killing people in nearby villages.”
