Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has accused government officials, particularly immigration officers, of repeatedly harassing her during travels.

In a Facebook video recorded at an airport, the senator questioned why her passport was seized, saying she only planned to take a short break abroad after two years in office. The footage showed immigration officers making calls and apologising while she demanded her passport’s release.
Natasha alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio ordered the Comptroller-General of Customs to restrict her travel, accusing her of tarnishing Nigeria’s image through media interviews. She insisted there was no court order authorising the seizure and claimed President Bola Tinubu had previously intervened to halt what she described as a politically motivated case against her.

Her passport was later returned after she went live on social media. The incident follows a recent confrontation between Natasha and Akpabio on the Senate floor over alleged gender bias and unfair committee representation, which briefly disrupted plenary proceedings.
