JUST IN: Tinubu appoints Enugu commissioner as minister

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu-Udeh, Enugu State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The nomination, conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday, was made under Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution, which requires Senate confirmation of ministerial appointments.

Udeh, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is set to replace Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who resigned last month amid controversy over his academic credentials.

His appointment restores Enugu’s representation in the Federal Executive Council, as mandated by the Constitution. The Senate has referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for prompt screening and confirmation.
