NDLEA seizes over 14,440kg of Skunk across six states, nabs wanted drug baron

NDLEA operatives have intercepted over 11,000kg of processed skunk in the Orita-Apeje, Araromi-Okeodo forest reserve in Ife South LGA, Osun State, disrupting a major drug syndicate’s distribution network. The 11,135kg seizure, made on November 11 after days of surveillance, led to the arrest of seven suspects and the confiscation of two trucks used for transportation.

Across the country, additional raids yielded significant recoveries:

Edo State: 1,902kg of drugs seized in multiple operations, including 672kg from Utese forest and over 1,000kg found in two Mercedes Benz vehicles with two suspects arrested.

Ogun State: Four suspects held with 68kg of skunk and 3.15kg of methamphetamine along the Ijebu-Ode expressway

Taraba State: Two arrests with a combined 256kg of skunk recovered.

Adamawa/Nasarawa: 396,000 tramadol capsules intercepted at Yola Airport; 785kg of skunk recovered from a Nasarawa warehouse.

Lagos: Three suspects arrested with over 206kg of Canadian and Ghanaian Loud.

Kwara: Two vehicles intercepted with more than 98kg of skunk and cartons of rubber solution.

In a major breakthrough, the NDLEA’s Special Operations Unit arrested wanted drug kingpin Frank Chijioke Ibemesi (a.k.a. Chisco Bee) at a hotel in Isolo, Lagos. Officers recovered 1,762.8kg of Loud from his warehouse, along with foreign currencies including dollars, pounds, euros, and Canadian dollars.

NDLEA commands nationwide also continued WADA sensitization campaigns across schools and communities. Chairman Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) praised the operatives for their coordinated efforts in drug control.Headline news
