Internal Rift in ADC as Party Rejects David Mark’s Faction and “New Headquarters”

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged Nigerians and the international community to disregard a so-called “new party headquarters” unveiled by a faction led by former Senate President David Mark.

In a statement on Monday, signed by the party’s National Chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, the ADC leadership described the faction’s actions as an illegal and unconstitutional attempt to seize control of the party.

Gombe stated that the splinter group lacks any constitutional, moral, or legal authority to represent the party. He said, “The faction is illegitimate. The group led by Senator David Mark operates outside the recognized structures of the ADC. Their actions reflect personal ambitions and a failure to respect the party’s democratic processes.”

He further clarified that the building presented as the “new headquarters” is private property with no official affiliation to the ADC. “This is an anti-democratic act designed to mislead the public and subvert the will of the party membership,” Gombe added.

The National Chairman called on Nigerians, party supporters, INEC, security agencies, and the media to recognize only the authentic directives issued from the ADC National Secretariat.

Gombe concluded that the legitimate leadership remains committed to pursuing legal and constitutional measures to restore order while focusing on the party’s mission to provide a credible alternative for Nigerians.
