President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba alongside other soldiers during an anti-insurgency operation in Borno.

In response to the incidents, the President has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi on Wednesday. Shettima is expected to meet with state authorities and reassure parents and guardians that the Federal Government is committed to securing the immediate release of the abducted students.

Tinubu, who was fully briefed by military commanders, condemned the attack on the boarding school in Maga and praised Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for earlier efforts aimed at preventing the kidnapping.
The President also extended heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian military, describing the fallen soldiers as heroes who gave their lives in defence of the nation.

He urged communities—especially those in regions facing insecurity—to cooperate with security agencies by sharing intelligence that can help prevent further attacks.
“As Commander-in-Chief, I am deeply saddened by the death of Brigadier General Musa Uba and our brave soldiers,” the President said. “I am equally troubled that terrorists have once again disrupted the education of innocent schoolgirls. Security agencies have been instructed to act swiftly.”

Tinubu stressed that the success of the country’s security operations depends significantly on local support and timely sharing of information.
