President Bola Tinubu has deployed Vice President Kashim Shettima to Kebbi State to meet the families of the schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.
Tinubu assured that the Federal Government is working urgently to secure the girls’ safe return.

In a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President revealed that the abduction occurred despite intelligence reports warning of a possible bandit attack.
He also condoled with the Nigerian military over the deaths of several soldiers and Brigadier General Musa Uba, who were killed by insurgents in Borno State. Tinubu said he had received full briefings from military authorities and expressed deep sadness over both incidents.

The President commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts made to prevent the attack but described the event as a painful setback. He called on residents, especially those in high-risk areas, to strengthen cooperation with security agencies.

Tinubu said:
“As Commander-in-Chief, I am deeply pained by the tragic death of our soldiers. May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes. I am equally troubled by the disruption of the education of innocent schoolgirls. I have directed security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back.”
He stressed that community support is crucial, noting that security forces rely on timely information to combat criminal groups effectively.
Vice President Shettima is expected in Kebbi on Wednesday to meet state officials, console affected families, and deliver the President’s message of solidarity.
