The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the interception of a vessel carrying 20 kilogrammes of cocaine at the Apapa seaport in Lagos.

The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Friday. He explained that the ship, identified as MV Nord Bosporus with registration number 9760110, sailed into Nigeria from Santos, Brazil.

Babafemi revealed that NDLEA operatives uncovered the class-A narcotics concealed beneath the ship’s cargo on Sunday, 16 November 2025.
According to him, the ship’s master, Captain Quino Eugene Corpus, along with 19 other Filipino crew members, has been arrested and placed under investigation.

The NDLEA has recorded major achievements in drug enforcement since Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) assumed office as Chairman/CEO in January 2021 under former President Muhammadu Buhari. His tenure has continued under President Bola Tinubu, who reappointed him.
