Kwara State has witnessed another violent attack as armed bandits abducted 11 residents of a local community.
Reports indicate that over 20 gunmen invaded the area on Monday, driving a herd of cattle and firing indiscriminately. An elderly woman was struck by a stray bullet during the assault.
A community leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that seven of the abducted individuals belong to the same family. Among the victims are a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several young children.
The identified victims include Talatu Kabiru (20), Magaji (6), Kande (5), Hadiza (10), Mariam (6), Saima (5), Habibat (housewife), Fatima Yusufu (housewife), Sarah Sunday (22, pregnant), Lami Fidelis (23, nursing mother), and Haja Na Allah (nursing mother).
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers moved through parts of the town, leaving bullet holes in walls and doors. Spent AK-47 shells were later discovered scattered across the community.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement. This incident in Isapa community, Ekiti Local Government Area, comes roughly two weeks after gunmen attacked the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), abducting 38 members and reportedly killing others during the assault.
